I'm just curious how much the average truckload is worth. Like when we're driving that 53' trailer just how much value are we hauling. I know it varies product to product but it'd be interesting to find out I think.

Impossible to even narrow down. A truckload of say pharmaceuticals is worth 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times more than a load of styrafoam cups. Even an average or median value would be so skewed as to not be worth even figuring out.

You could get close with gasoline but you need all the right information. So I agree it's impossible.

Yeah it can definitely vary widely.

I personally can say that I've hauled loads worth as little as $5000 to loads that were worth upwards of $500,000. It all depends.

A buddy of mine once hauled a special government load... One single pallet, 3200 lbs. He was both lead and followed by black SUVs with armed officials in them. Every stop for rest and fuel was carefully planned, but for that run he was not subject to any HOS rules. When he got to his delivery, they let him actually see what he was hauling.

3200 lbs of solid, uncut OxyContin... Street value of just slightly over $4,000,000.

the average carrier have $100,000 cargo insurance but that does not mean that they are hauling $100,000 worth of freight depending on the type of freight they haul some loads like coffee, electronics can be worth $$$$ up to $100,000 and if they haul more than $100.000 worth of goods they can't cover that load value in case of a claim against them.
And some loads like onions Melons $4,000-$6000 a load value or a load of slightly used tooth picks or a truck load of used toilet paper now that is worth nothin @ all

I would have to say the most valuable thing I ever hauled... also the most hazardous... was a nuclear warhead. Back in the 80's when Reagan sent the new Pershing II missiles to Europe, there were only two units with the clearance, training and authorization to move them.from the incoming ships to the assigned units. I was in one of those. Hauled missiles.too many times to count, AAA and Pershing, but only had a war head once. I am pretty sure that is in the high value category.

They do stuff like that. I know my father hauled money that was going off to be destroyed years ago. That's what they told him anyway. I almost taught you were going to say the loads were nukes but that's not done except in specialized trucks run by the government.

Some of the eastern bloc European countries are recalling their gold bullion from Fort Knox. I heard Swift got the contract as no one would think the wiser of the ubiquitous dry vans coming and going down the interstates. With over 40,000 pounds of .999 gold per load you're talking about some of the most high value loads ever hauled. You will recognize the Swift trucks by the big Diamond Driver logos. These drivers are highly trained killers so be careful when approaching them about what they might be hauling.

That's funny what were the armed agents going to do if the caretl got ahold of them? Shoot their way out of it? Your friend has a set made of brass to haul that load I wouldn't have messed with it. I value my life a wee bit more than that. That's like working for the ghost fleet. Screw that my life is worth more than that.
