I was reading on another forum this morning about a person being terminated (via e-mail with no notification) from his cell provider (non-contract) for using too many minutes (6000) on an Unlimited Talk & Text plan. The president of the company responded and said "only 30 e-mails were sent out".
On a standard 30 day month, that's an average of 200 minutes (3.33 hours) of talk time per day.
Due to various and sundry reasons, most of my friends have left the company we drove for, resulting in us not talking much any more. That being said, I'm still on track to get well above the 6000 minute mark.
I'm curious if a driver's forum would consider 6000 minutes to be excessive or the norm. Let's see what the poll says.
How many cell minutes do you use each month?

I use over 1,000 mins so I find it BS
88 Alpha Thanks this. -
I'm surprised at the number of folks saying they use less than 1000 minutes of talk time/month. I thought that category would have the least number of votes.

I'm certain I can easily hit 6k minutes a month. What I need to cut down on is the 30 gigs of data I use.

I text more than I talk...
Data usage was insane when I was OTR thoughTb0n3 Thanks this. -
I'm under 1000 every month. I cant stand talking on the phone. I text and use a lot of data though. And no I don't own a Bluetooth no need for it for me...

I do not use voice minutes. I do text minutes. A couple hundred at most each month. There are scam artists constantly calling my phone but I do not answer it at all. It's literally not something I rely on too much.
I only pay about 9 dollars a month before taxes for my service which is literally very quiet. If I was trucking it would also be very quiet since I don't usually allow Dispatchers access to that cell. (That is what the Qualcomm is for.) -
Nobody loves me so I talk to myself far more minutes than I'll talk on cell phone. Probably fewer than 40 minutes/month. I probably don't have voice communication with my dispatch office more than a few minutes a month.
I'm aware there are drivers out there who LITERALLY spend most of their work day on the phone. I have a problem with these drivers. I wish they'd put a light out there window so I could know they were involved [distracted] with a phone conversation so I could keep my time near them to an absolute minimum.
Hands-free devices solve nothing. The problem is not hands holding a phone. The problem is minds engaged more in phone conversation than their immediate driving space. All hands free bluetooth devices did was make people more prone to drive while distracted for more hours while driving. No, talking is not as hazardous as texting or otherwise looking at a device screen, but considering hours involved in talking is far far more than texting (as demonstrated by this thread topic), it's more of a safety problem, IMOtscottme and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
I use 4500 - 6000 minutes of voice according to the stats page from my plan,.. 1100 - 1200 texts and currently at 91gb of data.
I text and drive also. How ever,.. its all hands free using voice commands with my ear piece. It also reads my texts to me. Data is mostly from videos and downloads.
Unlimited plan with Verizon. No complaints.

I don't talk on the phone too much. But a few years ago I had a very boring job where I stood at a machine and watched it do it's thing all day. One month I racked up 16,000 texts. Currently, data is my sore spot. If I had to hazard a guess, it would be about 20gb a month, per device. Unlimited plan, so I don't bother monitoring it.
