I have read a few threads about 57' trailers being a big deal. I am curious about "experienced" drivers concerns regarding longer trailers.
My thought is the longer the trailer the less chance rookies are going to decide to drive trucks, less competition = better pay for guys willing to pull longer trailers.
How long is too long, 57'?

57 and 59ft Trailers are legal in Texas.
Moved a 57 only onnce from our Yard to a Shipper. Then picked up a 53ft going to NM.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I was scared when '53 came out.lol. my question is how will it be loaded?? when you have a '4o foot king pin to axle in Cali. alot of wasted space, if the freight is heavy.

57 is also legal in MS.

I once watched a guy back a 57 footer into the dock closest to the building at Coca-Cola in San Antonio, TX. It's #### near impossible even with a 53 footer to make it in the way it's designed which is clearly for Coca-cola short trailers.
He had the tandems pulled all the way up. The tailswing on that sucker is MASSIVE, it could have starred in that Baby got Back video by Sir Mix-A-Lot. -
The truck stops are not designed for 53's now, imagine most everybody with a 57' trailer in there. There would be alot of hoods torn off from the overhang swinging around.

more freight for the same money
