Hi all, I need some good advice, how long does diesel last in a truck before it is no good. The reason for question is that the fuel in my tanks is about 18 months to 2 years old, and i am not sure if it will be any good to use. P.S truck has not been started for that long.

diesel is not like gas it does not go bad. It can get water in it from condensation.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, your fuel should be fine.
However, the diesel fuel of today is not as stable as it was years ago, so it's always possible that you could have issues.

If you are concerned, I would recommend PRI-D from Power Research. It is available on the net and usually at boating/marine outlets. It is designed for the new ULSD fuels as well as previous diesel and will restore old diesel/fuel oil. Does a pretty good job on keeping goofy stuff like slime and asphaltin from developing in diesel as well. I use the stuff pretty often. It is cost effective, only 1 oz to 16 gallons. My ISX really cooks the diesel it sends back to the tanks and I was having a problem with asphaltin developing in the fuel and coating fuel filters. PRI-D fixed the problem. Thought it was algae at first, but it wasn't.

Its the moisture that gets in from condensation and forms mold that causes the problems. Like Cowpie1 said, put some fuel conditioner in the tank and top it up with fresh stuff once you have it running.
