Still can't believe how lucky I am to have this local gig Im on. No worries of weight stations HOS or when I'll be home and I know what I'll take home!Everything is going well my FM is pleased and most important the customer as well. I only drive 300 to 340 mi a day, yeah I kinda miss the long hauls still but, this is great and my dog is much happier with daddy around.
How long can I expect a dedicated run to last?

Glade to hear you have a local run, i have heard some last as little as a few months and some as long as 10 to 15 years.
Good luck -
But of course, now that you've voiced every positive thing about it and how much you love it, they'll take it away and put you back on the road. It's the Murphy Law Applied To Truck Driving, doncha know.

Dedicated will last as long as you want it to.
Most leave it because they are bored with the same ol, same ol'.
Each person is different. So enjoy it. -
as long as the company keeps the contract and you do a good job and willing to take the pay they offer....................... or until you're bored

My experience every time I've had a really good dedicated run it never fells to get changed.
Case in point was before I left Schneider. I was running on the Sears account from Memphis. I would deliver in Hickory, NC on Monday pickup in Greensboro, NC, drop in West Memphis at the rail yard. Then Pickup Tuesday get home Wednesday morning leave out for 9am Thursday deliver at Greensboro Sears. Then back to West Memphis and then Memphis then home Friday night. I was making $1012 a week. Then just 1 week before Christmas of 2000 I had to do a confrence call will alll the drivers in east TN, NC and SC. We were told as of 2nd week in January we would no longer be on the account. Not because we didn't do a good job but "They were making a profit but with us on the account they were not making enough profit."
So I went from 4 1/2 days a week of work to taking a $300 cut in pay and running 2 to 3 weeks with them. The person they replaced me with made $0.10 less a mile and was late all the time. -
Stevens is good about keeping drivers on dedicated runs as long as they want (and as long as they perform).
Like someone else said, usually it's out of boredom that drivers leave.
ah! the lure of the open road! -
