How hard is it to pass the D.O.T. physical? (Specifically the hearing test)

    I'm am a little worried about being able to pass the D.O.T. physical. I plan on getting my CDL once I turn 21 years old, and I am in great shape I work out everyday. The only thing I am worried about is the hearing portion of the test. The last time I got a physical I got a hearing test and my doctor said that I have SLIGHT CONDUCTIVE hearing loss in my left ear, but it is still within the normal range. My right ear hearing is perfect. Basically I want to know how hard it is to pass the hearing portion of the physical. Also, how loud is the forced whisper test? Is it a light whisper or is it just a lowered tone of a normal speech and how hard is it to pass? Please, any info would be greatly appreciated :)

    well after 40 years of diesel engine rooms on boats
    I say huh a lot
    I have had both a hearing test on a machine both ears
    and had the doctor just walk away and whisper at me
    I am sure I have considerable hearing loss and passed

    the wife is always turning the tv down

    It's both really but I don't think I wisper will stop you from passing. I just got my medical card and the lady just stood 2-3 feet in front of me put her head in the corner and whispered fairly low enough to hear. I think you'll be fine

    its a pretty loud whisper, they turn their head or cover their mouth so you dont SEE what they are saying, but it not a light whisper. the test in general is pretty basic, drug, vision, the normal reflex stuff, hernia, and the hearing of course

    If u can stand on one side of the room and hear someone loudly whisper something and can repeat it u will be more than fine

    Have someone man or woman! whisper "Yellow" or "Potato" My Dr. my last one was "Potato" for one side and "Chip" on the other side! You will do fine. It is not a given decibel amount just that you can hear most things!.

    The last time I got my physical it took me a grand total of 20 minutes. I peed in a cup, was weighed, asked about my medical history took an eye test and I was done, all for $30.

    No hearing test but the company I drive a straight truck for doesn't care where we get out physicals so I go to a strip mall.

    Oh alright gotcha. So i guess its just depends on which company you drive for then? It's the DOT who requires the physical not the companies correct?
