- Will consider new grads from a certified CDL driving school
- Home every day
- Shift: start times vary between 1:00am-4:00am
- Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday may be required
- Route: Montgomery, Bronx, Queens, NYC with an average of 13 stops
How hard is it to get a CDL license? Do you think it's still worth it?

Will still be worth it if one wants to get into it. Automation will mainly be region to region. Distribution center to distribution center. Humans will still be doing the “final mile”

When obtained my Cdl back in the mid 90's I was also interested in music trying to pursue a career in both. However, I always made sure that having a trucking job was my main priority & glad I did. Currently working for a Unionized Trucking outfit earning anywhere from $85k to $95k with around 50 to 55 hrs per week. Still able to pursue my hobby of music but that's just a hobby now because there's no money in the business of it as it's more corrupt than most would think. Yes, working for the wrong trucking could be a curve ball but once you obtain a job that you enjoy it makes the time fly by. Autonomous Trucks might be coming in the future (probably another 20 years) but the question with them is 'who's going to tarp, open the doors etc.. for them? If there working via satellites what happens when hackers are involved with online hacking inconveniences? To much variables now to think about with them including all the roads across North America having the proper road reconstruction regarding infrastructure. If you're 33 that's another 32 years before retirement. There's tons of jobs for trucks avg. $25/hr to $30/hr. And like many o/o said they avg. $20K/mth.

From what I see, you no longer need to be able to read, write, or drive, so it can't be too difficult.
Geekonthestreet, Speed_Drums, HiramKingWilliams and 3 others Thank this.
