How hard is it to get a CDL license? Do you think it's still worth it?

    Hey,

Hope this question is allowed here. I'm 33 myself and kind of thinking out ideas for careers that can help me earn some money.

I was thinking about trying truck driving and wondering how difficult it is and if you think it's worth getting into at this point in time- considering upcoming automation and all that?

I also wonder if you think it gives you enough feee time to pursue other interests like music, etc...

    Thanks

Yes, it's a very good career and worth getting into.
You might have time for your music if you live in a good location where there's local jobs available.
Where is your location and do you plan to attend a private or community college cdl school?

Truck driving has changed a lot of peoples lives for the better. It’s like the last industry where you can get in without a four year education being brain washed and still make a good living. A A lot of people who were down and out have rebuilt their lives going into trucking. What’s the alternative, go flip burgers or work at Walmart stocking shelves, or some crappy job like that, heck yeah truck driving is a lot better option. If you get your CDL, keep your record clean keep yourself clean and stay out of trouble for a year, that license truly becomes gold in your pocket. I have zero regrets going into trucking. There is an adjustment. Mentally that you will go through. For some it’s easy for others not so much. If you’re going to stay out OTR, you must get through that.. Lol

You might be in a good location for a job that has decent home time.
Which suburb are you in? Near NYC?
If we know, maybe give you some leads as to what may be available should you choose to move forward with trucking.

Ya its worth it. There are a lot of ways to utilize a CDL. Its not a get rich quick thing. But a couple of years and a clean driving record. And there will be a lot of open doors.

The self driving trucks won’t happen in your lifetime , despite what many people wish.
    Same with electric cars:
California can decree it and General
Motors can announce they will stop making gasoline vehicles by 2030 , but reality will be completely different .

if you’re young and single it’s not a bad job.
I’d recommend attending a community college or state vocational school and getting your CDL that way.
Then you won’t be an indentured servant to a company.
