I think they'll go back as far as the state will provide but it all depends on the carrier and what sort of criteria they are operating under for that week. If they are a larger carrier, they will probably discover if there was another DL held within the last 5 years. Just answer the questions on the app accurately, according to exactly what they are asking. No more no less. What they ask for on the application and what they pull on the MVR may be two different things but no matter. If they want 3 years violations/tickets history, give them 3 years, not 3.5, not 5, only 3.

If you're unsure of the dates (or anything else that may or may not be on the MVR), it would probably be in your best interest to order your own MVRS (as far back as you can get them) before doing a bunch of apps.

I think it's 10 yrs if its your first issue of your Cdl. After that I think it's 7 although I'm not sure if that's per d.o.t or if each company has their own requirement and I could be wrong about 7

With companies I have applied to and or looked at... there are some things that look 3 years.. like speeding tickets under 10 mph over.. but there are things that they ask that are if ever.. like a wrecless driving charge..

What if you took a driving class and got the points taken off your license? Like here in Florida?

I've been looking at a lot of on line driver applications over the past few weeks, & they all differ. From what I've seen, the norm seems to be about 3 to 5 years for minor speeding & soforth, about 5 to 7 for reckless driving and other serious offenses, & 5 to 10 for DUI . But, like I said, it varies from company to company. I don't know if reason for the differences is just company policy related, or if it's difference in state DOT regulations.

Many only care about minor violations (spedding etc) in last 3-5 years. DUI, criminal reckless driving, etc goes back a lot further.

Seems like alot of app ask if you have EVER had a licence suspension. so that could be 20 years ago...or longer...
