What is the cheapest way to shine up aluminum fuel tanks? Heard of baking soda and water. Will they stay shiny for long? Also I've heard acid washing aluminum dulls the shine and we have a power washer with acid and soap options at our terminal. I usually acid wash the tanks to get the grime off. Thanks yall

Get a nice liquid polish like white diamond from advance auto. It has a polish and sealer in it, and you can polish it with the tanks filthy and it still works since it has a cleaner. Polish til its black, haze dry, then buff off in the same pattern. It's about $14 a bottle and lasts several polishes, now I use Gords, but white diamond is great.

If your tanks are uneven and blotchy, then acid them first and it will make it easier to polish them. After that, you will just re-polish once every three months or so, takes about ten mins per tank.

I always pay to have mine machined polished. Last longer and shines better.

Polishing is a freaking dirty job. Will take weeks to get that crap out from the sides of your finger nails.

    Pay a "professional".

Well it's a company truck so I'm not trying to spend too much money when the thing could break down and they put me in a new one tomorrow haha.

Having said that u do take pride in having a nice looking truck. Plus IMO a good looking truck is less likely to be inspected. They'd rather inspect that rail can truck that hasn't seen a drop of soap since the first gulf war lol
