I'm curious to hear how OOs run payrolls, especially as you've added more drivers. I've heard a lot of Zelle/CashApp use, but am not sure thats the best way for tax reporting end of year.
How do you guys run payroll?

I'm not an O/O, but having non-trucking small business experience, if I had to pay employees other than myself, I would absolutely use a payroll service to make sure everything is done correctly related to deposits, tax withholding, and end of year forms and reporting. It's also not very expensive, especially compared to the amount of time required to do it yourself.

When I had just myself as an actual employee I had a payroll company do it for me. They charged me $11 dollars a month to do it I paid myself on salary and only received one paycheck a month.
Accidental Trucker, Oxbow and ibcalm19 Thank this. -
I don't have a payroll, don't need it, it's only me.
The tax guy does everything when he does my taxes. -
I use a 3pl payroll place. I only pay myself quarterly. I pay $400 annually for this service.

I do bank transfers. It’s easy. Driver sends in a trip sheet that he scans before BOL. On it is the hub miles. I just add the miles from all the trips and shoot it to a payroll company that charges me $14/mo. Other driver that wants 1099 I just do a bank transfer.

My bank handles it. They issue me and the wife each a check (actually direct deposit) twice a month. They take care of the reporting withholding and sending it to the gov.

Quickbooks Payroll, it’s super easy.
Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
I use intuit online payroll for myself. I'm a c corp. Takes care of everything and easy to use.
