I carry a couple of containers during winter for when it's so cold all the pumps are frozen and everywhere is sold out. 5 extra gallons extends my def range to about 2600 miles. Usually I use only 1 box 2.5 gallons def due to cold weather pump issues.

Not sure where some folks think fuel sold anywhere but from the big 5 is somehow inferior fuel. To each their own. I've tried it both ways and I get the same life out of my fuel filters. The key is to avoid that bio crap like the plague. That will F you up the fastest.

Cheap fuel I get an email daily from efs. Pe trans posted a few locations earlier. Speedway nastc is about .10-.12 lower than my discount. Sapp is exactly the same. For that small amount I am staying on efs. By the time you factor the 250 or 300 yearly fee it is close enough for me not to care. Having a national chain would be nice. But I don't need it that bad. The routes I run it wouldn't make much difference anyway.

One of the advantages with having NASTC is that you can know the fuel price for tomorrow, and also, the fuel prices for Sat, Sun, and Mon are always the same. So when they assign a fuel price on Sat, that means that will be the same fuel price for all truck stops until Mon. This info helps a lot with planning fuel stops. Fuel can rise up to 10 cents from one day to another. I science the hell out of my fuel stops to the point I may be averaging the same discount as a large fleet. Hahaha.

NASTC has TA/Petro, AMBEST, Speedway, Kwik Trip/Star, Sapp Bros, Roady’s, Sunoco, and lots of smaller truck stops. I wish they had Pilot/Flying J or Love’s. I really miss their free daily shower program. Hopefully one day TA/Petro starts offering it. I wouldn’t mind fueling 1,000 gallons at TA/Petro if I could have showers every single day.

I just use the same places every time. I could technically do a bit better but I also am not interested in 50 gallons here....75 there....100 there.... just get a decent price fill it up and go is how I do it.

I do the same runs repeatedly. None of this run wild nonsense for me anymore.

Nastc banking is more complicated given the international nature it would be for me. I'm not setting up a bank in the USA just for that. If I have a fleet someday I will look more into it. I don't want to micro manage a drivers fuel stops, rather just say this card use at all ta/p, my efs card use it at husky for Canada. Outside that.... the other networks kwik trip Sapp etc use this one.

I prefer to give my money to the independents. Parking is much more available usually. Got tired of the same old cookie cutter no service crap all the major ones do. That's not to say I don't stop at them. They just get a much smaller slice of my money.

And yes I am one of those that will fuel around a corner at not a real truck stop then go to the real truck stop and buy just def when necessary lol.

I use the fuel book app. Its free and tell you everyone's cash pump price. Can do a search of nearby, a certain city, or route. Also list price by cheapest, closest, minus ifta, by chain, or services.

With Def, when filling up from the pump, I would suggest wiping off the nozzle so not to contaminate your system.

What’s the name of the fuel program? It sounds like you are leased onto a big carrier.

I'm leased on to a small carrier and I dunno how many trucks they are, maybe 30 or 40? Fleets get really good discounts at Pilot. No swipe fees either.

It’s not bad at all for being able to use Pilot/FJs. However, the fuel prices from NASTC are not far from what you have posted. What sets Pilot/FJ and Love’s apart from the other truck stops is their shower program and their number of locations nationwide. Even if NASTC had Pilot/FJ, I doubt the fuel price would be as cheap as you have posted.

NASTC also doesn’t have swipe fees, just a monthly card fee ($4.25).
