was watchin an airplane repo show yesterday and it got me wondering how they repo a truck that isnt at a terminal or the owners home .
how do they find it on the road? and what becomes of the driver and the load ?
anyone ever had this happen ?
how do they repo trucks ?

The airplane repo show is pretty cool isn't it?
bzinger Thanks this. -
If it's dispatched under a brokered load they can't touch it is my understanding. I may be wrong but somebody will post a link to set us straight. So pretty much catch it empty and just like a car and hope it's got air pressure

There was 1 of those IDIOT reality shows ( lots of made up DRAMA and you tell its scripted ) about a truck repo service did not last long.
Lot of the repo outfits get info from other drivers on the location of trucks / trailers they are looking for as a result of the I DID YOU A FAVOR now you OWE ME A FAVOR way of doing things. They will nab it at a truck stop or at a customers or wherever they find it my brother in law ( a true SUPER TRUCKER ) has had they nab 5 or 6 over the years

Commercial truck repo works just like any other asset recovery, it does not matter where it is, loaded or empty, if they find it and can recovery it without a breach of peace they will take it. As for the cargo, the carrier can claim it and come pick it up from the storage facility, just like you would come claim your belongings out of a car. I deal with repo companies daily, pick up cars, boats, trucks, whatever has to go to the auction. In real life it is nothing like what you see on tv, they don't usually go demanding anything, wait for you to walk in after fueling or stopping for a bathroom break and you will come out and find your rig gone. It is pretty easy to find a truck today with gps, transponders, just watching normal customer locations and lanes, also many carriers will cooperate with the repo companies and tell them where the truck is going to be, empty, so that their freight is not troubled. The carriers could care less about the owner operator, as for independents, they will contact some of your brokers to track you down.
