I want to start driving but need my CDL. I have been out of work and no savings left. I know some companies sponser. What would be a good company, school or other option to get my CDL in California?
How do I get a CDL in CA with no money?

Many others. Chinatown seems to be the site authority on this subject. Check out his posts. He has steered others in this direction many times.NavigatorWife and DDGBII Thank this. -
Chinatown is the patron saint of wayward truckers and old men who want young Asian wives

If you're unemployed go to your workforce/unemployment office and tell them you want to become a driver. The state will pay for your CDL school, then you hire on as a trainee to your company of choice. Also, a ton of local companies will train you for free. Soda/Beer/Snack distributors will train you for your cdl while you work in the warehouses, so will LTL and a lot of the Foodservice companies.

Celadon
Southern Refrigerated Transport
Jim Palmer Trucking
Western Express
These provide lodging and meals plus a ticket by bus/amtrak/plane to get the their school location.
Apply to all of them at the same time then take the best or first offer; whichever suits your financial capabilities.
You will need an original birth certificate and original social security card that's not laminated.NavigatorWife and DDGBII Thank this.
