Hello everyone I’m going on my 3 month of over the road now with prime inc. Great company, but, they won’t let me take home time in California due to my physical address in Michigan. I can’t change my license to California or it would disqualify me from doing lease operation. I’ve been looking all over indeed and every job search looking for local jobs in the Fresno or sequoia valley area and not having much luck. Can anyone give me any advice on how to find a good local job?

You could also find another OTR company that would not restrict your home time options like that.
Your physical address should have no bearing on where you take your home time.

The crazy thing is when I was recruited they told me I could make my home time anywhere I wanted in the US and my fleet manager said it isn’t possible or to look for a new fleet manager

First off, which company are you driving for?

Second, most companies will say or do whatever it takes to get drivers into their trucks. The name of the games is Arses To Seats.

Third, a good chunk of companies don't run freight to California or run west that much. That's for various reasons. Could be for monetary reasons, like cost versus profit for running out there. Could be the fact that DOT there has been known to eat alive drivers, anything. As much as drivers would like to run west, the greater demand for trucks are all points east of Kansas City, basically I-35.

Fourth, to answer your question about how to get a good local job is simple. Get more than 3 months experience, at least 1 or 2 years, get endorsements. Without experience, it's going to be difficult to impossible to get any good job.

Not positive, but think he drives for Prime as a lease-purchase driver.
