I am on a load that apparently they made a mistake with the appointment time.

The broker has not gotten back to me it's been about an hour and a half I call it Saturday afternoon I get no answer I get to voicemail and I'm going to pull this out of here and I want to put it into a warehouse somewhere.

I'm in Philadelphia Pennsylvania if someone could tell me how I find a warehouse and what I legally need to do I want to get this off my truck I have other loads to do.

    Thank you

Hard to get a legit place to store it without approval from the owner of the product.

Well when I told them I've exhausted every option to reach them and since I can't reach them I'm going to put it in storage I'm leaving in 30 minutes and I will do that then they called me.

So hopefully we can work this out.

There are some serious considerations like, who is the consignee? If it is going to one of the large warehouses that reject loads unless the original seal applied at the shipper is intact, it could cause some serious complications. If it a looser place that doesn't care about the seal, then it should be just fine whenever you can get an appointment to redeliver or have the warehouse service deliver the load for you.

No matter where you are, try searching for a "public warehouse". They're everywhere.

Well I have had this happen before.

I wanted a written record of the emails to the broker to say I've called you I've texted you I've emailed you I've made every effort that I possibly can to reach you and I've received no Direction for this load so it has to go into storage.

Honestly I wonder what the legal ramifications actually are for that.

And as long as the broker is working with me, even though it's tempting to do that so that I can keep working, I feel like I need to work with the broker.

The problem is that ultimately they have to approve the rate to redeliver it and the storage fees. No matter what I can get for that I'm not going to make what I would make if I was out working. I only have one trailer so I'm not able to work essentially until this gets delivered.

The last time this happened they paid me the same rate for the redelivery as the original load. They also paid me 250 per day to hold the load, which that load ended up being about 7 days that I held it.

A little while ago I sent a message to the broker telling him the fees are the original rate to redeliver it plus $500 a day to store it. I told him this was not negotiable and to tell the shipper the load will not move until I have a new rate con with the original delivery rate plus the additional fees of redelivery and storage. I told him to please have all of that ready with the new appointment time.

I did this because what happens with these Brokers is in this type of situation they may call me tomorrow at 11 am and say hey I got a 1 pm appointment hurry up and get down there and you know you can get it off your truck and you can get back to work and we'll figure out the rest... no no no.

I want a new rate con before anything moves anywhere.

The problem comes down to how long will I have to hold it, and what will they try to tell me they will pay me.

    We'll see.

If anyone has any advice or input I'll be glad to hear it.

They can give you a new rate con with whatever you want and then just ignore it afterwards. Can't go to the bond, can't go civil.

"Compelling someone to act in a manner against their better judgment or to do something they don't want to do is against the law. In the eyes of the law, any agreement made by a person under duress is invalid."

You can only go with the original rate con and whatever is in their contract.

    Doesn't mean they won't pay anything/something.

If intrastate you're going to be subject to that states laws

You are responsible for the cargo until someone at the receiver signs for it. If you drop it at another warehouse they could just file a freight claim against you. Does your contract say what your recourse is if the receiver doesn't accept it?
