hey I would want to know how common is it to fail cdl skills test. I had my test today did everything good until I got to ally dock and was bad at it. On my first try I got it in the box but use too many pull ups trying to Force in the box. I failed because of this because on the 4th try got it in the box everything was good the DMV examiner kind of complain that the tractor and trailer were not straight. I was told after I had 20 points out of 12 or 13 you can only get.

Just keep working at it. You'll get it. Backing takes practice, nobody starts great at it..

As far as statistics on how many fail...I have no clue. Maybe someone knows...

Its very common.Ask your instructor or other ppl in your class to help you understand the alley dock. That was my weakness too,the alley dock.

I never understood the logic behind too many pull ups. I always figured if it takes a bunch , so be it. As long as you hit nothing

Based on my experience not so long ago, it is not unusual to get a little nervous and make mistakes during the exam. Watched people in my class (men and women) do great during practice. For all of it. Pre-trip, controls, brake test and on-road. And then, the examiner. I think we psyched ourselves out just a little. The examiners were professional and NOT looking to fail you. But, you had to earn that passing grade. We had a few people have to re-test (you have to pay the fee again). All except one passed on the re-test.
For the alley dock, I got nervous and started the trailer turning in too early. Was lucky to pull-out and correct. I think that was the most common exercise people messed up. And I saw them with these two eyes do it fine the day before!!! LOL. Happens to alot of people.
Other than the alley dock, what did you miss?

I think the same about this; doesn't make sense. I think it's just have power over other people and the power to ruin someones future gives sick people a good feeling.

If I remember correctly, you got two or three free, and they were only 1 point each after that. With 20 points, he/she/xe made mistakes on other stuff too. Something in the pre-trip, cab controls, or brake test.
