I haven't had to replace a transmission yet, but I have a 15 speed Eaton Fuller that I think is making some noise.
How can you tell if your transmission is going?

It will start making lots of noise. How long have you had that thing? 15 sp trannys will make a lot of racket. Pull the fill plug and see it there is any metal stuck to the magnet.
6wheeler Thanks this. -
How much does it cost to rebuild tranny, lets say Eaton 10spd

Thank god I never had a 15 eaton, the Macks 15 was plenty. 15 forward and 15 reverse too. (Don't start that again you forum trollers... we have gone over this before several times...)
I like the 15's but the noise? Ha. When they go, worry about it then not before. All you do is scare yourself and add unnecessary stress.
What about me? well, I put some money each month into the bank. At some point the tranny is going to break proper. By then I hope there is enough money to replace or fix the #### thing. I remember from my Buick Ownership days in car, those transmissions had a plastic actuator or some thing that broke after 80K miles and need 1700 dollars to fix. Its cheaper to just drop in a new tranny which hopefully does not include that flawed buick part.
The best solution is to get a manual, those never fail. Oh wait..... -
