    Hi,
I'm considering opening a parking lot for 18-wheelers and other work trucks in northwest Houston, as I see a lot of big trucks parked illegally along streets. I'm think about charging $150/mo for 12x60' parking space with no covering. It would be gated, fenced, and monitored. Any interest in this from you truckers? What other features would be important for you?

    Thanks!

At the risk of sounding like a smart ### how much extra are you going to charge for the rest of the truck, most otr trucks are around 75"

Shore Power and water access would be appreciated.

I hope you got at the very least 1 million dollars for your plan, and EPA approval.

As Kansas said, most trucks are around 75'. If you are going to have the trucks park along the perimeter, make sure you have enough space in the middle for a gradual turn, versus cutting it sharply. That will eat up your asphalt in a hurry. For $150, it is paved, right? That's what they charge where I park in Orlando for gated, paved with cameras.

Many, if not most, places are charging $125/month for truck/trailer, or just bobtail, I think. I know Freightliner does, and I was told that's pretty mid-range. You're going to have extensive cleanup costs, remember how tidy and responsible lots of drivers are. FYI

Thanks for the feedback! You've just about scared me off of the project now :). I'm curious: why do you need a lot like this? Don't you have trucking terminals or why not just use a truck stop?

Also, to answer someone's question, I was planning on using crushed concrete rather than pavement to save cost.

Would you offer a weekly rate or other options other than just monthly? I park at an independent truck stop in Rosenberg when on hometime and they charge $10 a day. It would be nice to park in an actual secure lot but most of the ones in Houston are pretty far from me out here in Sugar Land.

Lots of guys aren't with a company that provides terminals. Terminals are not always near where they live. Truckstops aren't meant for home time parking.
