    Greetings y'all

I tried to post his question on reddit and didn't get a single reply, not sure why. I've been hauling cars with no CDL for about a month now. Pulling a Big Tex A20 trailer, I believe is 51'. I some times park next big rigs just to see how much longer they are compared to mine.

Is that a good way to train or should I go thru the 3 months of training offered by Schneider or swift?

What you are doing probably gives you some good experience, but you will still have to go through the entire training/mentoring process if you want to drive OTR.

Yep, cdl training is a requirement now, under the new rules.
Attend a private or community college cdl school or trucking company cdl school.
Where is your location; we'll help you get started.

By the way, there's a couple of car hauler companies that hire new cdl school grads.

    tscottme and Jamie01 Thank this.

Schneider and Swift are only two of several options.
Where is your location? State and nearest city/town?

So I'm in Houston . I have a class A permit. I went thru a really cheap school, only 2 hours of straight backing, 2 hours offset, 2 hours parallel and 2 hours road driving.

They give you 3 chances to pass at the DPS. First chance I failed the pretrip inspection. Second chance i passed the inspectionion (memorized the whole effing thing) passed the backing, offset and parallel, but ran over a curb and failed during the road test (first turn coming out of the DPS :() third chance, my medical card expired just 2 days before  so i didn't even get to test all.

I can probably pass if i pay the School another $200 to give me the truck for another try, but at that point over 2 months had passed i ran outta money and had a bunch of stacked bill. Getting a job was a must.

Houston is a very good location to get started.
Sorry you got ripped off, but today is a new day and time to get started on the right path.
You posted about a trucking company cdl school and there's several to choose from for Houston residents.
    KLLM is a good choice.
Training is in Lancaster, TX and transportation, lodging, meals are provided.

Reason i said swift and Schneider is because if you have CDL in hand, (which I'm so close to, incan see the finish line) they have training right here in houston. So wouldn't have to go to the Dallas/Fort worth area.
