Hi, I'm been looking into this hotshot trucking and noticed there are a lot of different opinions about it. I've dealt with expediting with my dad and when he wasn't lease to a few companies through fleet owners it sucked but when one fleet owner dispatched his own trucks he made good money. Was wonder what all I need to know about it and if it's like straight truck expediting. I'm 20 with a class B CDL and trying to get into trucking cuz I starting to think I should have went towards trucking then being a mechanic. Would really like my class A but I can't stop working for 15 weeks to get trained. Another thing is would a F750 with a sleeper and tag axle be ok.

At 20 you would be restricted to instate driving.

I know that. That's not a problem since here in ky I see hotshots a lot just as much as tractor trailers

You have gotten much of the information from the uship thread, I do not see why another is needed.

as so long as you don't go over 26,000 no cdl required and the you can cross state lines, the age restriction is only for cdl drivers

The 26,000 lbs is for the combination rating. GCVWR, not the actual weight.

I saw recent posts between you and truckon on that thread and it was the same as you are asking now. It is meant, as why start another thread?

I have nothing good to say about USHIP.

I made this one I didn't make the other I just commented on it plus I'm going to follow rules and such but I want to know mainly if hotshot is the say as expedite and would it help any trying to work my way up to a class 8 truck. I really don't like adding stuff like this to threads with people arguing

oh and under new Ky state law you don't even need a medical card as long as you consider yourself fit t drive and stay in Ky and drive hot shot only. They did this under the small business relief deal.
