Hey guys, I just have a quick question or two about hours of service and consecutive days in a row. As far as I know, 14 hours of work is the legal amount of hours allowed per shift, right?? Does this change just by being in Saskatchewan, only running here? And also, how many days in a row can someone work in the example below...

There's a job hauling sand locally, where you run about 320 km to a mine, load up with sand, come back to where you started from, then off to another city 140 kms away to unload, and return. 920-940 km's per shift. On a good day it's about 13.25 hours and on a bad day can easily go over 14 hours. How much doesn't matter, but there can be a lot of hours in 14 hours.:biggrin_25524:

So you go home and another driver takes over and does basically the same thing, the truck basically running on 14-16 hour rotating shifts. How many days can this go on before it's cause for concern?? How many days should one driver be running before he legally shouldn't. Any thoughts appreciated.

As long as yu are only a Provincial Carrier, yu can work 15 hours a day 7 days a week. But if you even bought a single trip permit to cross a border, it takes 2 years of not crossing a border to get back your Provincial status.

If you're a federal carrier, you can apply for Federal exemption for the oilfield.

Thanks for that, Prairie Boy. Far as I know some of the trucks furthest point (on a different run) was Creighton/Flin Flon to dump sand somewhere by a rail yard. I don't know if they were on the Manitoba side though.
