I wouldn’t have the slightest idea.
Hope that helps!tech2019 Thanks this. -
Are you not leaving your state? Otherwise I’d think you would need an mc number? Do you have a trailer setup to be pulled by a semi tractor? I’d call some insurance companies and see what they recommend or offer. You’ll have to have 750k in minimum liability insurance for intrastate. Insurance on the cargo is likely between you and the horse owner.

Ahhh ok I understand more now. Good for you for wanting to do it the correct way. Most would get personal insurance on their truck and trailer and just haul ###. I do know since my Mom has horses that certain states require certain vaccines. Whether that’s only if that state is the destination or also for passing through I’m not 100% sure. That may be something to look into though.
There will be someone come along that knows more. You might also find a forum for guys that haul RV’s. It’s orobably pretty similar in regards to DOT and commercial insurance. -

I’ve read this a few times and I am confused on what your question actually is?
It sounds like you are asking about what insurance would be required to haul horses but you also state the horse owner had to get that insurance.
If you don’t need a MC # then I wouldn’t think you need any commercial Insurance. I would recommend you get some coverage though, if for nothing else to protect you in the event something bad happens.....if the insurance company gets involved they generally will relieve you of all responsibility and bring their own attorney to protect their interest. Without any commercial insurance you would be on your own.
I would also ask what type of horses you plan on Hauling? Even show horses can have a huge range in value. -

Ag exemption law do believe is only for 140 or 150 air miles from home after that you will need a elog if crossing state lines health papers on the animals showing where you are going and coming from and I believe that you will still need everything that a semi needs because you are over 26k insurance you will need what ever you want for your rig I put a million dollars coverage on mine truck trailer and load to cover the animals trust me a horse person you can be paid to haul gold to them and they will ##### over it's to heavy to unload and best to cover your back
