I am driver since August and drove across the country, have taken i-80 and i-40 multiple times. I tried almost all truck stops, but I would say the food is not only garbage but poisonous.
DO you have good list of truck stop where I can eat normal healthy food? from my experience I would say. Stop 101 in Tennessee on i-40 was not bad, but this is old family truck stop and probably that's why, they still have American family traditional food, good sauces and homemade ketchup, they i really enjoyed food.
But major truck stop food like Pilot, FlyingJ, TA, Petro, Love's are total trash. these 2 dogs for $3 in every truck stop is not only bad but offensive too. I tried to eat fruit from that fruit cups they are keeping in ice and almost threw up, was rotten or chemicals added had taste of perfume. This is really big concern. I tried to like Denny's which is not that bad as TA and Petro buffets but still very low quality everywhere starting from CA to PA. somewhat better food can be found on toll roads like i-95 but i take it rarely.
I am sorry my post is little aggressive but I am fed up after eating same trash for months now and seriously thinking to take food from home, but liquid food like soups are crucial for people like us.
Honestly who really eats (and enjoys) truck stop food

I use to like the spaghetti dinners at petro.hot dogs and pizza out of the warmer is alright as long as you nuke it.otherwise youre going to get cold l food every time.the tennesean I always liked out of cornersville,th.they had great bbq and service.

Stay away from the rotisserie of death at pilot, the hook, loves and petro. Mom and pop places seem to be the ticket from time to time.

If you want healthy food cook yourself. I would stop at Walmart get all my veggies turkey rice and tuna and make my meals lost all the weight I gained during training. And I always would walk around my truck a lot during the day. Truck stops will suck you dry with the over priced food

I-80 in at the TA in Morris, IL, R's Place is hands down the best place for a diner type (i.e. not special like BBQ) meals. As for other chains, I cannot stand Iron Skillet, but Dennys isn't bad. It's just not great, but at least it's consentient. You're best bet is something like google maps and look for restaurants within walking distance of truck stops.

There are places. Some are truck stops, some are local restaurants with adjacent truck parking. Generally speaking you will need to seek out independent truck stops with restaurant or where the locals eat.
Google maps and satellite is your friend. Also there are a few forum sections here that discuss this very subject.DTP and Sneakerfix Thank this. -
I stop eating truck stop food. When I saw a roach peak it'd head out of my pizza box, I told myself never again. I usually make my own food, but sometimes I can't resist Wendy's or hardees

I am a sucker for wings at flyingj, but man afterwards I do not feel good that's for sure. Usually I just buy cold sandwiches, if my cooler is empty. But other than that, I eat soups out of cans, Amy's" is my favorite brand.
Dominick253 Thanks this.
