Does anyone have any experience working with Holland Special Delivery? They are on my short list because they are close to home but they don't have much info out there. I just want to get a better idea of how they operate and how they treat drivers before I interview. Im also trying to get into UPS, Conway, SAIA, USF, and ABF. Would it be better just to hold out until I get on with one of them? Thanks

I know nothing of Holland Special delivery, heck never heard of them... but I do know about the others and will tell you.
UPS, not sure if you mean UPSF or regular UPS. Regular UPS is stupid hard to get onto but UPSF isnt too bad. They will hire with less experience then required.
Con-Way - I would watch them, but if your hired at the right terminal you will do ok. However you will spend more time on a Forklift then driving as you will be the bottom man.
SAIA - I know nothing about, they dont run in my area
USF - Not sure if its Reddaway or Holland that your by, but Reddaway is a good company. they are owned by YRC
ABF - Hard to get on but a slim to none turnover rate. Pretty much if they offer you a job take it. If you dont meet there driving requirements they will send you to a school but are contracted to them for the next 2 years -
What ACH1130 said. Also Saia is a good company too. They aren't union but pay good and pay you for everything. Always heard really good things about Holland but never anything about special delivery.

Holland Special, they either pay per mile or per hour, depending on the route, and you dont always know how you are getting paid, and I guess they dont offer insurance from what I am told.
Holland, last I knew they were looking for a full time and a casual driver. I guess the terminal manager is a real jerk though, but you will be union. (and they dont go by USF anymore, it's just "Holland" FYI)
YRC just closed the coldwater terminal, so the Grand Rapids terminal picked up 9 drivers from that terminal and a lot more work, and they will be hiring dock workers and more full time drivers as well as a casual or two I believe. -
isnt Holland Special delivery a truckload carrier? I dont believe they have anything to do with USF Holland but i may be wrong.

Holland special from what I have heard, delivery anything and everything. They also do storage and warehousing as well. They have OTR and LTL -
I do drive for Holland Special Delivery and have for 2 1/2 years. I want to clear up some of the misinformation that I see on here. CrazyCool has the most accurate info of anyone on here. Everything in his post is accurate.
The pay can be either hourly or mileage depending on the distance you will drive. Both ways usually end up paying about the same. As to CrazyCools' post about not knowing how you are paid, that point is not accurate. When you
start your day, you will know by which method you will be paid. We do have Priority Health insurance and it is very affordable in comparison to what I paid at other jobs. The company gives us quite a few benefits and treats us very
well. Our trucks are almost all 2013 or newer and well maintained as we have an onsite maintenance shop. We get detention pay after one hour of waiting and stop pay after 2 stops when on a mileage run. We are a six day carrier so
we never work on Sunday. I myself run in the Expedite division which is mostly local runs where I get home every day. If I do get hung up somewhere and can't get home, the company will pay for a Hotel room. Very fair. We have a truckload division also based in Holland. I don't drive for them but I know they are home every weekend too. I will close by saying that I have had nothing but positive experiences with this company and would encourage any of you
to check them out. I have been treated with great respect and can't imagine dealing with the problems I see on the pages of this blog..ACH1130 Thanks this. -

The part time and casual status drivers do get to pick their days and start times within reason. Dispatch is very accommodating with these drivers and can usually find a run at most any time of day or night. They do not have any benefits.
