Anyone one have info on these guys. Im researching for a friend and want to help him by getting info from y'all. We know the trucks are auto 62mph prostars..
he wants either dollar general or their regional home every weekend fleet. Any info on the home weekend regional fleet such as miles or accuracy on getting you home on weekends?
They offer paid holidays.. does this mean your paid to work those holidays or you get off and your paid?
Do they treat you like a human and give common courtesy and respect to the driver?
Thanks for any info!

Thanks whiskey. I had read alot of bad but it was from a while back. I will pass this info on to him.
where do you guys run at on the regional? Y'all di any nyc or north east?
Do you guys get a advance weekly? -
In general, Hogan runs midwest, Southern US, and NE US. Yes, Hogan does run to NYC, but usually (not always) those loads will be given to the drivers that live up that way. I've personally have not had runs to NYC, and I don't want it. The closest I've been is Newark, NJ. As far as weekly advances, yes Hogan has them. I don't know what the limit is, but $100 is doable. You also get a comdata card for fueling. Hogan have yards in Earth City MO, Downtown St. Louis MO, Indy, Columbus OH, Kansas City MO among others where you can get fuel also. If your friend have years of experience, he/she will probably go on a 200-250 mile eval run (1 day) with a driver and then get own truck. inexperienced drivers (less than < 3 months) normally go out with trainer for 4 weeks. Otherwise, you can expect to go out for a week with a trainer.
Sorry for jumping all over the place. I am typing as I think of information you may want to know about Hogan. Hopefully this will help. Any more questions, just ask.lilqueen1099, Dark_Majesty_06 and reptij Thank this. -
Thanks Whiskey! That helps a lot, He has some experience from a while ago but he hasn't driven a truck over the road, since like 1990 or so.. He went into business for himself and helped raise his kids. So he wants something close to home and home as often as possible, so that he can still maintain a social life and keep the Ms happy.
I have come off the road as well but with all this, am considering a application sometime next year as well.
Im curious about the eval run... what exactly does it consist of and is it the first day of orientation or the last? I assume they do a pretty thorough background and dac check before a driver even comes a board? He does have a misdemeanor and a backing accident on his mvr, since he once in a while helps with harvest and what not. So they checked all this and he wont have any surprises at orientation?
Do the trucks pull pretty good? Him or myself have never driven a automatic truck and he's worried its like a car.. going down hill theres no Resistance since you cant shift down.. so you have to rely on the jake.. which i heard SUCKS in prostars.
So the do keep ya running pretty good? I understand its trucking but I had some sucky experience at crete and know that sometimes they can do more but choose not too.
Thanks for all the info, he seems to be diggin it here. -
got my test drive 3 rd day. picked up on the yard ran to springfield il. drop and hook back to the yard. the autos only major problem i found was backing up an incline to a dock overheats the transmission and it beeps loudly. the jake does suck. the electric apu thing sucked as well. i left mostly due to where they run im not a fan of any of the ne and thats where they go in the most part. i was an otr guy not a dollar gen guy. and the only times i didnt run the 70 corridor was when i put my notice in and then i got some se stuff because they were hopeing id change my mind. i averaged 2300 a week but thats the entire week i took no days off and rarely did a 34 i just ran recap all the time

Dark,
Depending on how long ago your friend got the misdemeanor, it may not be an issue.
The prostar's jake is a joke. Like stlvance said, the auto likes to beep and complain while backongiup. On my prostar I often get a code of "CA" when backing up. I was told it means clutch abuse. It's annoying and distracting.
I run an average of 2700 miles, but lately, I've been getting around 3100 miles a week. Personally, I've been running missouri, illinois, iowa, wisconsin, minnesota, kansas, arkansas, texas, alabama, tennessee, kentucky, ohio, indiana, and new jersey. I get about 2 trips to NJ a month. Part of it is your fleet manager. Mine is a cool guy and he keeps me running and home on weekends.
The eval run takes the day to complete. You'll go out with a driver and run the load. If they are satisfied with your performance you come back in the afternoon and get your truck. the trip is usually 200 miles total.
I don't think I've mentioned this but Hogan's policy for parking the truck is that if you live less than 50 miles from the earth city, mo yard you will park the truck there. Further than 50 miles, you can park it near your house but you have to declare the location and have it approved. That's probably the same with any company. As for fueling, they prefer that you fuel at one of the yards since they buy fuel and it's cheaper for hogan. With that said, if you have to get fuel on the road at a truck stop, they allow it.
Hope this helps. Any more questions let me know.reptij and Dark_Majesty_06 Thank this.
