I guess the best thing to do is not hit things and beware of your surroundings and get out and look if you're not sure or can't see.
I've had tickets though- most recent was two years ago coming out of El Paso, Tx going east- 72 in a 60 thought I was out of the construction zone but I wasn't.
Anyway- I can't believe that this is such a hard concept to grasp
You run into something- whether it's a pole or a wall or someone else's truck
You own your mistakes and learn from them and be honest about it- it's called being an adult and being professional
To do anything else, in my estimation, is to get lazy about what you're doing and how you handle the equipment and you become a danger to everyone around you- you wouldn't, hopefully, walk into a place filled with people with a loaded gun and play with the trigger, would you?
There is a point when you have to grow up and put on the big boy-or girl pants and act like you care and you're a Professional Driver and not a steering wheel holder.gjcarr03, driverdriver and Maj. Jackhole Thank this. -

It's hard not to scoff at the notion that you've not had any accidents since 1986, unless you test drive trucks on a big track. Ran over a recap? That's an accident. Hit a low limb on a tree that put a nickel sized dent in the roof of your trailer? Accident. Rubbed your doors against the trailer next to you on a dock since it was impossible not to? Accident. Deer bounce off your truck and put a crack in a headlight almost undetectable? Still an accident. Backed into a dock and dented the top rail of your trailer rain gutter through no fault of your own??? Still an accident. Missed a turn and had to turn around somewhere and driven through grass and made ruts? Accident. Hit a dock that didn't have a bumper and cracked a taillight? Accident.
i don't believe for one second people drive millions of miles without scratching, rubbing, messing up things. They just don't get caught or don't report it. If you do, your spotless record would be shot in about a week if you delivered some of the places I've been hauling furniture and boxes, places built 50 years ago when trailers were 40 foot long. I constantly have to tell my company not to load certain stops on skirted trailers because they will bend and break having to back in there, down hills, over elevated road surfaces, and I've got $1000 that says you couldn't do it without hitting something.Grubby, Gearjammin' Penguin, bottomdumpin and 3 others Thank this. -
nah, you didn't hit two poles. it was a couple of bollards.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -

But then you might be one of those whom can not accept responsibility for your actions. Must be why your butt hurt by my comnent. -
Bro don't say nothing about nothing, that pole not hurt, i hit 2 parked cars and a telephone pole one nite about 3am while waking up from one heck of a nap. I just caught a gear and kept rolling
. Just kidding.. seriously I probably good.. lesson learned though right. Sometimes it's best to just pull the breaks and hop out real quick for eyes on behind you. I do it all time
-
And maybe them poles were previously hit and bent and you just came really close
tucker Thanks this. -
If 1 pole is hit by one of us and not disclosed, then we are all liars. Next we will be hitting each other... and there will be nobody left to tell the truth!
