- Are you a company Driver paid on a W- 2?
- Are you a "company driver" paid on a 1099?
- Are you leasing a truck from MKD and paid as a independent contractor?
- Did you lease a truck to MKD as a independent contractor/Owner Operator?
-
Op said he is an AZ driver. Think that is Canadian. @Mander1100 try posting this in our Canadian forum section

When you took the job, did you fill out a lot of paperwork? Did you keep a copy of all the paperwork?
Was there a contract that specified who was liable for damages to trucks or equipment?
I doubt seriously if they can make you pay but you should talk to an attorney as soon as possible. If you're short on funds to hire an attorney there are resources available to you that will advise you what to do. Look in your local Legal Aid web pages. -
Tell them to F off. Even as a 1099 drivers people usually pay only half of deductible. To be fair let them deduct $1000 from you and nothing else
