You wanna make money in this business?? Buy a bunch of trucks and trailers. Lease them to drivers at a reasonable monthly payment. The ones that can't cut it for whatever reason. You get that truck back and do it again. The ones who make it you make money on interest.

Hirschbach leasing is more of a 1099 than leasing. Unless you mess it up you don't really pay for it. It's not bad but not a true lease. They do a central maintenance account and you have to fuel where they tell you to, to get that $0.99 a gallon. If you get a flat you go where they tell you to so it gets fixed and the cost comes out of the central maintenance account. As long as it isn't your fault something doesn't break the money comes that central maintenance account.
Good luck -
Well this is gna be interesting...

If they tell you where to go to pickup freight, where to go for fuel and repairs, wouldn't that make you a company driver?
drvrtech77 Thanks this. -

Oh man I'll just leave this alone

Okay, first week done.
Orientation always a waste of time. Nice motel. They sent us for food at the HyVee. Actually a very nice place with a bar. Three women my age, one needed a place for the night. Nice.
The truck is a 2014 International Eagle with auto shift. It only goes 60 mph. Gauge reads 64 but GPS and worksite Radar reads 60.
As to the lease. The way I read it, you do not end up with a truck at the end of the lease. You end up with an option to buy. The option to buy is not a bargain. It appears that they will be giving me a new truck at the first of the year and a bonus for completing the lease on this truck at that time. I do not understand it totally so will have to keep you posted.
I see this as myself being a company driver who has to file my own taxes. So far, I have no problem with that as it still works out that after all my payments, social security and payroll taxes I come out ahead.
I know that I like the people here. They have so far treated me with respect which is a lot more then K and B did.
Bottom line is money of course. Good miles this week. I will see what the paycheck brings. -

@Wooly Rhino How much is your lease payment on that truck they have governed at 60mph?
-
They probably tell you the truck is governed at 64mph, but fail to mention that the speedometer is off by 4mph.
