Highest Entry Level Pay

Trucking hardly ever pays drivers salaries. You get paid per mile & often lose about 10% of those miles to various adjustments.

The industry is dead slow right now until the economy starts growing and the flood of C0vid related invaders go kaput.

There is no driver shortage. $40-60k is probably reasonable IF YOU CAN GET HIRED & EMPLOYER HAS ENOUGH FREIGHT. Ignore the 2-10 year old media stories about driver shortages AND AUTOMATED TRUCK fairy tales.

You need to decide if you are willing to pay for a refresher course, what type of trucking you can/will do, what city you will be based, what freight (van, reefer, flatbed, tanker) you can pull with your endorsements, and how often you/your wife needs you to be home for 34 hours. Otherwise. It's like asking should you become Tom Cruise or Tom Brady to make the most money.

 

Find something specialized, the company’s make more money and pass that down to the drivers. Some of it anyway. No company needs to pay top dollar to drag a dry van. Any foreigner who can’t speak English can bump a dock.

 

Schneider is the lowest paying company out there as far as the total at the end of the year.

May Trucking Company has a terminal in Pensacola.
Not the best paying, but an excellent company to get started with. Annual pay will be much more than with Schneider.
I don't know what May will say about you having no experience since acquiring your cdl.
