I talked with them briefly several years ago. At that time, they were running all 48, and I don't believe they had any yards other than the terminal in Cortez. I can't remember what they were running at the time.

The fella I talked to seemed like a reasonable guy. Probably would have gone with them, had my personal circumstances been different.

I'm not at all sure that I would relocate my family to Cortez though. Particularly if I was gone OTR. It's a neat area, but kind of rough. Both Cortez and Montezuma County seem to have their share of problems...

High Country Transportation is a good company, if you like getting stuck all weekends in truck stops. They do not have 24/7 hr dispatch and weekends, they have 1 guy that works for 7 to 8 hrs, in the morning. After 3:00pm, your on your own. And weekend guy, can rarely get you rolling without calling his Sup. Great equip, but not worth the lack of miles they promised. I averaged about 1500 mi a week, on a good week! and spent weekends stuck at truck stop, because they did not have any preplanned load, even though you kept up with your PTA. They only have 1 dispatcher through the week, out of Tex and she has that rude former Swift dispatcher, who doesn't return calls and is rude, along with the rest of the staff in Tex. the new Recruiter even has a piss poor attitude! The owner seems to be cool and has to settle his staff down, when he starts getting allot of complaints. When you call to speak with him, they won't let you. Don't believe the miles they promise and they have a big turnover. My rate on this comp., is poor and would NEVER go back, to those lying people!

I just applied to them and they approved of my application. I told them I'll go on dec 30th but that's just to buy me time to finish my national guard drill in dec and to wait until I hear back from Prime next week. Here's what I found out. Starting pay .36 per mile. Can go up to .44 per mile the slower you go under 64mph down to 55mph. They have APU's. Detention pay is "What ever they can get". They don't go to NYC. They run 48 but most of the loads will come out of the southwest states. They have 10speed 2013 pete's and 2014 freight shakers but they are all automatic. They allow pets, cats and dogs. That's all I can remember from the top of my head because I don't have the notes I written right in front of me. I'll ask them about the dispatcher thing monday. That could be the deal breaker for me.

If they told you, that their equipment are automatics, then that must be for 2014 Rigs, because ALL of their 2013 Pete's are 10 speeds. They are in the Courting phase and everything's gonna look great, but I guarantee you, after 8p on Mon thru Fri, only 1 dispatcher, who does not have authority to dispatch and get ready to sit at truck stops all weekend! This was the main reason for me leaving, as well as the attitude of the staff, once the courting is over. Best of Luck! They might be a good fit for you, if you don't mind low miles and stranded at truck stops during the weekends. Best of luck!
