Hidden Wash Out locations

Ask other drivers where you're unloading.
Try the CB.
Google.
Some places that receive nasty cargo or require clean trailers have a washout bay you can use.

If the shipper is really strict about it, there's a good chance there's a no-name set up beside some other business doing washouts, just not listed anywhere. Usually along the main route in. Keep your eyes peeled.

Call car washes and ask if they know of one.
Call trailer repair shops and ask them.

Ask your broker or dispatcher.
Ask the receiver you are delivering to, or the shipper when you get there. Real early of course.

 

Cargill in Wyalusing, PA will wash out if you delivered there, I think it's $25. Golub (Price Chopper) DC in Schenectady NY has a wash bay, I think they're in the $45-$50 range. Again, these are at receivers and probably not useful if you're just passing by.

Edit: OP, did you deliver to Wegmans? I would have asked about washout there...

 

Well im sure it is too late by now--But unless something changed the IH dealer in Rochester does them--1st exit on 390 North of thruway--on SB side--you can see dealer from 390

 

Gulfport, MS US49 southbound from I-10 you'll see a big water tower. Turn right before it, you'll also see a McD's on the right after the road, cross RR tracks and on the right is a trailer. They do wash outs and the lady in there makes great ham and chicken salad sandwiches in the fridge. Cheap too.

East Dubuque, IL. US20 a couple miles east of the river/Dubuque, IA.
Hirschback Motor Lines beside Farmland does washouts at the terminal for anyone.

I always just used Google. Search "Trailer washout/mobile washout."
No internet? Use the CB.
No CB? Use tin can and string.

 

Discovered another one, in Disputanta, VA. Shell station on 460 a few miles east of 295, just down the road from the Food Lion DC. Advertises on channel 15. No idea of price, I didn't need a wash. Just heard 'em on the radio while waiting for my dock assignment.

 

It's nice to deliver and right away wash out but a wash out can be anywhere from delivery to pickup which opens up more possibilities. Unless there is a lot of blood or other contaminants I have drug the old broom out in a few instances. It all depends on your next customer. In the meat industry many of the shippers will wash a trailer out at their facility so you kind of get spoiled if you ever work that end. But yeah Google is your friend as there is an extensive Yellow Pages list of truck washes.
