10, then 20 over to Fort Worth, drop down 287 to 45 is what I'd do.

there's infinite solutions above i10 and below i20 if you like space travel, there's no danger in dead reckoning down there (UNLIKE PA) where they can only apparently afford to connect the interstate to the peasant class every 50 miles. I don't even mess with 287, just i20 to i45, maybe adds 15 miles to just stay on 20. if you're bored, the texas Beverley hills $$$$$ is all west of Austin and San Antonio, i10 to 290 towards Austin, way better scenery than i20. once you get east of i35 it's uneventful. i35 is how do you say "highly eventful"

You guys give great advice. I dropped one horse off in Van Horn and picked up another for Ennis.
One thing though...the next time I hear somebody complain about California drivers I'll ask them if they've ever been through Ft Worth at two o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. It might have been the California license plates on the trailer but I felt like somebody hung a target on me. Even the horse had big eyes by the time we turned south on 287. Might be just me, too. I'm a long way from being a big city driver.
Nice people down here, and some great food, but the big city drivers are sadistic.
I'll be moving some horses for a friend of ours in Corsicana the next couple of days and Thursday I'll grab a little travel trailer in Rice and head home. The horse trailer stays in Texas as part of the deal.
No fear, straight through on 287 to Amarillo and I-40 for home.
At least this time I'll know what to expect from DFW drivers.

I’ve always liked everything Texas. Dallas Cowboys fan and the whole 9 yards. But ever since going OTR and driving a big rig through Dallas area frequently. I’ve come to the conclusion that they are ruthless drivers. Fast and faster….Lol I’ve been on sections of the highway where I’m pretty sure everybody was going 90+ miles per hour except me. Another thing bizarre to me that I’ve noticed is they don’t often slow down the speed even in the construction zones. They’ll just keep the speed limit the same and everybody speeds on top of that. It’s wild going through and around Dallas. But once you’re above it, below it, or on either side of it it’s pretty smooth sailing from there.
