I just started with my otr trainer and I haven't gotten my first paycheck yet so I have to use the cash advance until my check comes in but I'm having a problem getting cash out. I used it Friday 12th and it worked fine but I tried the last 3 days to get another advance and I keep getting a message saying transaction can't be completed.
My company said we can take out up to $210 a week for advances so it should be available again.
When at the atm I select withdrawl, pin number and credit then put in the amount. Am I doing something wrong or is it just not working?
Also I called the number on the back of the card and it said cash on card amount is $210.

A comdata card has two sides to it. On one side they load advances which you can only use a check to get the money. Walk up to the fuel desk clerk and tell them how much you want (I want a $50 advance please) and they'll do the transaction. It cost you a couple bucks. Or you can fill out your own check putting the card number where you put the code. But then you have to call comdata and get the authorization number too. It's alot easier to just hand your card to the clerk and let them do the work. ;)

The other side of a comdata card, drivers can get their payday loaded on. That's where you can take ATM cash out.

Not sure how your company has it set up but normally cash advances are handled by going to the diesel desk cashier when getting fuel for your truck. The cashier will swipe your card then ask for pertinent info such as truck #, Trip #, Mileage, Plate #, driver id/code, fuel for truck only or truck and reefer, and finally do you want additives or a cash advance.

This is how most carriers handle cash advances. Should you not need diesel fuel then you can still go through the above procedure but I think there is a 2.00 charge assessed from the truckstop.

I had an ATM from a local bank in Rawlins, WY eat my comdata card. They sent a couple of cute ladies to retrieve it for me so it made the wait worth it.

I took $160 out of a ATM once and it spit out two twenties. It took two hours of phone calls and three months to get that money back.

One time I had an ATM short me $20. Rather than make a headache for myself I just added it to my next lumper receipt to Stevens and broke even.

The company I work for now uses Fleetone and I get paid in paper checks that my wife deposits/spends when I'm not home to get them.

Thanks. Our company has it set up where we can use atm. And it worked fine the first time. I will try the fuel desk and see if it works. Since its saying I have 210 on card it should be ok right?

Yes it should be okay. If you still have problems, call your dispatcher and they can fix it on the computer. They have a direct link with comdata.

I don't know your situation, but just saying...someone else might read this.

On the road be careful about using ATM's. The fee's will eat you alive. There are many other ways to handle cash. Try getting your advances when you fuel and then it's free.
If you don't have a bank account, there are online debit cards you can put your payday on instead of Comdata. Netspend.com is an excellent one. They only cost $5 a month. Then you just purchase with debit and get cash back for free.
PM me for a referral :) I use it for online purchases.

My company does the same thing. Make sure you are trying to take it out of the "savings" portion of your card, that is where your cash advance is.(at least where mine is)

Also, depending on when you took your last advance, they may not have reloaded another advance on your card, check your balance, if it has not been repaid yet on your check, you may not have an advance available yet.
