im wanting to get a new radio setup for my big truck. i like to connex 3300 and it will be coming out of a wilson 2000 trucker. i want to get an amp that will allow me to get out and mabie talk skip while im running otr. im looking at a davemade 2x4 but ive heard good things about the fatboy amps. im not set on those brands but i like the idea of just buying it once. id also like the amp to be able to turn on and off so im not too loud when im on 19 at the truck stops.

Buy a re'furb General from Sparky (cheap) then you can hammer
pretty much any box you choose for much less.
Cb watts are like horsepower, depending on how fast you wanna go determines
how much you spend. There are plenty of "fast rides" that dont have chrome valve covers . . . .
Plenty of good options can now be found on places like Craigs list, some may scoff
but that will be from their lack of experience using such.
Wanna be wheel holders are bailing at a steady rate, good quality radios can be bartered from those
unemployed strapped for cash, that Ike (IkesCb)guy outta Dallas has some good deals and will ship
Ive recently purchased a few better (4 pill and up) units and they all put the fire to the wire
    as described by the seller.

Beware of the ham bone trolls, they be all over this in short order
Its what you want to do,dont let them sway you with their legalism and double speak.

    You RANG .....

The truth is as long as you stay off the HAM BANDS ( 24.890 - 24.980 and 28.00 - 29.700 MHZ ) and don't make a pest of your self not much chance you will get caught. However if you do the FCC has been looking for people to finance it's daly costs and they just love to releve you of up to $10,000 or more .....

I don't know if they take Master Charge ......

TRUTH IS,you and your sack twins jump in folks business when there isn't a need to
YOU,just assume a position that "all" who run outlaw radio/wattage are gonna infringe on your sacred ticket holder freq's.

People like the OP come here looking for advise on running amps and export
radio's,EVERY SINGLE ONE is confronted with your unwarranted FCC scare commercial

Leave folks to their own,as you yourself would prefer
WE THE PEOPLE,will talk when and where WE have the ability to do so

Show me where anything I said was not TRUE ...... you are ASUMING that I attacked amps or export ( there is no such thing ) radios.

You are saying you will taLK WHERE AND WHEN YOU WANT .... Have at it .. I don't care . untill you cross into HAM bands ...... which the HAMS have EARNED the right to use ......

anyways back to my orgional question. i want to run this as a mobil. in my big truck. im not worried about the fcc finding me and i will talk all over your "earned" channel if i so desire. im out here 300 days a year trying to make a living. and if talking on the cb is what gets me through the day and it keeps me entertained through the long hauls across kansas. then thats what i will do. im simply asking for information on the amps that would allow me to talk skip when the conditions are in my favor.

99% of people who get caught are BECAUSE they are in the HAM BANDS OR ... are causing problems .....

Many truckers are HAMS .......... so don't think this is a HAM only thing just good advice ......

As for your question any amp over 100 wats is going to do what you want
if you feel you need 1,000 watts go for it but keep what ever you do CLEAN and outside the ham bands ... and even the FCC realy dosn;t care.

I talk to truckers ( licensed ones ) on many bands and they run good clean stations ..... some as far away from here ( Tampa Fl ) as the west coast and Canada I had a long time friend who back 35 years ago was a long haul trucker who I worked almost into Alaska and could hear others talking to him when he got there .

Have fun with your toys ....

Not gladfly:biggrin_2559: but yes, Although not nearly as much as usual:biggrin_25525:. As for the OP's question. I have bought and sold many different amps from 100-1600 watts, Many dirty and a few not so much. I settled on the Texas Star AB-1 Biased DX 500 V http://www.sparkyscbshack.com/products/Texas-Star-DX%252d500V-Transmitter.html Very clean and does anything the big ones will do.
