This whole process is utter BS, especially if you have an active TWIC Card. You should be able to take your TWIC card to DMV and get your Hazmat issued immediately upon passing the HAZMAT test. I can say that if you can possibly do so under the current system try to get your HME done first. That way you will get a discount on your TWIC. Some not all, States recognize this hardship and give TWIC holders a bit of a break on the HME Threat assessment. I think we should all take a moment to write our governors or State Representative a letter complaining about the duplicity of this process. I mean when you have a CCW Permit, A Passport, A Merchant Mariner Document, Vessel Security Officer Endorsement, DOD Clearance, and a TWIC card, is it really necessary to do any further background checks on a guy that needs a HAZMAT Endorsement to make a frigging living?
Picked up my new TWIC Card on December 1, found out TWIC was no good for adding HAZMAT to my license.I applied for HME at the same TWIC Center on December 3, Took the receipt to DDS, and took the HAZMAT test today, they said when my fingerprints come back I can come back in and get my replacement license with Hazmat Endorsement. So now I wait, I start orientation with a Tank Truck outfit Monday. I hope that by the time I get through the formalities at the Trucking Company that I will have the endorsement.

It's generally around 21 to 30 days. Not a quick process waiting for your threat assessment.

It took me about 3 months to get a rejection letter and then I had to file an appeal and get a waiver and then it took another 4 months for it to finally get approved
DonM Thanks this. -

That whole TSA hazmat clearance is a joke. If someone wants to highjack a truck
and they stick a gun to my head, they aren't going care if I have security clearance, more than likely they would ventilate my skull and take the truck while I'm lying on the ground dead.DonM and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
