Just curious if there is a really large difference between medium duty trucks like the International Durastar and a medium duty International Workstar. Could a workstar be used for regional hauling of equipment and be anywhere near as cost effective as a durastar? I've seen both and the Workstar is markedly larger...but it appears to just have a tall stance...It would be equipped with a similar sized medium Maxxforce 10 engine, which is a smidge larger than the largest engine they offer in the durastar. Would the Workstar ride like a coach wagon seeing as the suspension is geared toward off highway applications? The international guys seem rather lacking in the knowledge department and hellbent on selling a durastar...which they have an overstock of. Thanks for any opinions and its great to see a community of hard working gents and ladies!

The difference is mainly in frame strength, suspension capacity, and braking capacity for given load rating of chassis. You can make a big dog bark like a Chihuahua, but you can't make a Chihuahua bark like a big dog. In other words, you can use a larger chassis in place of a smaller chassis, but never make a smaller chassis do the job of it's larger cousin because that's a whole bag of problems you don't want. Use the proper chassis for the job you have intended for it. Never force a smaller light weight chassis do something it was not intended for because it won't steer right, won't brake right, and actually may just break in half from too much weight. Hope that answers that question.
