I have been considering venturing into hauling heavy equipment over the last few months. The only thing I havnt been able to nail down is rates. I am looking at a tridem RGN and possibly a tandem jeep. If the load was for example a D6 dozer or a 330 excavator, would 4/mile be reasonable over 400 miles n maybe $175/hr if under 400 miles? Just lookin for some idea of rates on this heavier stuff...

Well I havnt done anything yet, just been considering it. W hat are ya refering to being a costly mistake? I have hauled all sorts of oversize up to an 11 axle set up with wheelers over the years both on and off road. I have my own authority and can easily apply for cargo ins for 2 mil...but maybe I am missing something?

Fast and b&b are cutting each others throats down here right now. I think b&b is at 155? Right now. I heard Winnipeg is good though lotsa guys doing great hauling to and from Waskada and Brandon/virden.

A D6 I wouldn't touch for any less than $225.00 and hour. If you want a mileage rate, I would be closer to $4.50 @ 50 MPH = $225.00 Add a single jeep, another $30, an hour. A tandem is $50. an hour. Shorter hauls......Higher rate, not lower. $175.00 an hour is way to low.

In 2002, I used to charge out my 9 axle closer to $275.00 an hour, that's 11 years ago.

    Have a look see....

Do you always come off on the defensive? Just saying if you screw something up with larger loads it always costs more. How am I supposed to know your experience? You would think you would know rates if you had all that experience ya know?
