My husband and I, went to work as company drivers for Stidham, March 2016. Just a heads up for those considering Stidham, Stidham is a re-start up, since its new acquisition late last year. While the company President is sincere in his efforts to grow/improve the company, he has fallen short in leadership. We were told the office staff were given job descriptions and told that Bill would be out Driver Liason. (He's usually in a meeting and will get back to us.) Getting back to us generally isn't efficient nor reliable. The equipment has generally sat for longer periods of time due to lack of drivers. Lack of maintenance has been suffered due to lack of money from past leassors and negligent drivers. It is acceptable practice to continually swap trucks, until maintenance is completed and then expected to also keep your next appointment since you're running paper. Stidham also doesnt tell you that they focus on the 5. This means, we generally dont venture far from the 5 unless running the circle to 5, 15, 80. We were hired for 48 and Canada but then handled and told that that was not an option until the glass contracts started up, which havent materialized but for a couple drivers. They will tell the driver they will pay ?? (in our case .39cpm) but subtract .10cpm for per diem. And, to date, our personal pickup has been broken into twice while on the company lot and Stidham's insurance does not cover damages. We suffered a broken window and lost personal information and belongings the first time. We received a call today of the second vandalism and it is unknown what damage we have endured this round. Needless to say, we had already searched for a more professional company and had written our formal two week notice, and submitted it at the time of this writing. Good luck in your job search. Just wouldnt recommend this company.

I don't think they "subtract" 10 for per diem. Out of .39 for pay, .10 is not taxed. But thanks for the heads up. Stidham been around a long time. Was the co sold to new owners ?

Paul McCanna now President. David Dean
David Dean, President/CEO of Rocky Mountain Clothing out of Colorado and Paul McCanna, President on-site Yreka. Unsure who had the money etc but yes, was sold. If I remember, will upload a statement if I can find one. Lots was taken in first break-in and we utilize a PO Box without residence.

    Hello There Everyone!

The purpose of this “letter” is to pay tribute to the employees of Stidham Trucking of Yreka, Siskiyou County, California.

My name is Larry Stidham. My wife of 66 years name is Frances Joann DeWitt Stidham.

Siskiyou county had been my home since the summer of 1951. Frances was born here, third generation in her family to have done so. Siskiyou county is the perfect county to graduate from the 8th grade in, go to high school in, get a job working on a cattle ranch after school and in the summer, then graduate from high school, and get a job after graduation (1956) in, get married 3 days after Frances graduated (1957) and raise a family in.

That's where the employees of Stidham Trucking, Inc come in. I drove truck for 3 different employers until 1963 when a potato farmer in Tulelake California sold me a truck and flatbed trailer for no money down as I had no money.

It’s because of the folks we hired to help grow the Trucking company were so dedicated and capable, “they” grew that 1 truck Trucking company to a fleet of 160 18 wheelers. Is that not a success story?

Therefore, hereafter I am going to refer to them as our partners as well as members of our family which they truly were in our hearts. By the way, on a personal level, along the line our family had grown from two to five with the addition of our son, Richard who became Vice President of the beam division in the Yreka office operations department, daughter, Teresa who became Vice President of outside sales and Mary was Vice President of the glass division also in the Yreka operations department. All three were greatly involved with the growth and success of Stidham Trucking, Inc. as was my wife, Frances who was our secretary/ treasurer from day one, as well as my dispatcher when I still drove truck no. 1. Frances was always everyone's boss really.

The Siskiyou Daily News, then a 5 day a week newspaper, had big front page headlines, “Stidham Trucking, Inc, The Heartbeat of Siskiyou County!” I was told by the editor of the Siskiyou Daily Newspaper a little later that there were more articles in his paper about the good deeds of Stidham Trucking, Inc doing more for the folks in Siskiyou county than any other company in his entire 30 years of his employment there.

    Thanks to our partners.

Back in 1991, the Goodyear Tire and Rubber company's blimp had Stidham Trucking displayed on the side of it at the Daytona 500 race! Not bad!

The reason for the blimp was because a sleeper team of ours, Connie Cooper and Pat Fee saved a lady’s life who had been thrown off an overpass onto the I-5 freeway in front of their truck, therefore they were selected as the 1991 Goodyear Highway Hero of the Year. They were OUR heroes, point blank.

Another honor was when the Pioneer Press, a weekly publication in Fort Jones, California back then, selected Stidham Trucking, Inc as its company of the year, and the City of Yreka chose Stidham Trucking, Inc as its company of the year as well. Well done you folks.

Also, because of our fabulous partners, Stidham Trucking was very much involved in the start up and growth of our Rescue Ranch Dog Rescue non profit, as well as SNIP,the cat and dog non profit. Plus a major contributor to the Siskiyou Humane Society as well as the Siskiyou county dog pound. Stidham Trucking, Inc was the major contributor to the start up and growth of the Cabo San Lucas’s Humane Society in old Mexico. In addition, Frances rescued a herd of 42 full size donkeys and bought a 62 acre ranch to keep them on. Said donkeys were rescued 1, 2 or once, 3 at a time.

When the city of Yreka was hoping to build a new hospital by the way of raising money thru applying for various grants and asking for donations etc, Stidham Trucking was able to donate funds to build an intensive care unit. The plaque placed above this room’s doorstates, “Donated by the employees of Stidham Trucking Inc” in honor of them. Again, the Stidham family thanks you.

Another feather in Stidham Trucking’s hat, once again, because of who, you guessed correctly, our superior team and family members, it became so financially stable it was able to invent the rent to own with no money down. For the drivers who chose to do so, they could purchase their own truck and become a small independent business man. 102 drivers choose to do so, 98 were successful and49 were able to purchase their own home for the first time in their life. Good for them! The 5 that failed, did it way no matter what Stidham Trucking recommended.

Stidham Trucking was also able to sponsor many youthsports teams.

We also would like to extend our success and thanks to the lenders and financiers that worked with us while we grew. We couldn't have done it without you.

For those partners (and family members) who are still with us –Thanks! For the wife's, husband's, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, etc of those who are no longer with us, please share this message with those the next time you pray for them as we couldn’t have done it without them.

Not bad for a company born and raised in Siskiyou county.

    Larry Stidham and Family

Sorry, sir, but what does any of the above have to do with the original situation? You may hire nuns, and monks to drive your equipment, but if the company sticks it to them, none of that matters.

Stidham never stuck it to anyone. It wasn't a place for cry babies and snow flakes but if you did things right you could make a darn good living.
