I need to replace my foggy headlights on my 06 387. At a brief check with Peterbilt, I found they want an arm and a leg X2.
I've searched the internet and found only aftermarket lights for 08 and newer models. Very few used ones are available for a 06. But I don't trust the quality of the used lights. Might be the same scrap like I have already.
Big question: what did change in 08 and later models? Will they still fit in my 06? On the pictures they look the same. The only number I could find on the light is P54-6010.
    Any advice is apreciated.

If it's just on the outside,a little sanding and buffing will make a big difference.

I've tried that already but it's inside and water builds up in one. Now they have to go.

if you are on a budget (or just cheap like me) take the headlight apart and sand the inside and out. I just did a headlight restore on a 389 and wrote a post about it in the peterbilt section. look it up.

    www.theretrofitsource.com.

use that link and look around, there are videos which show you how to remove the lense. put it in the oven for a few minutes and seperate with screw driver, let cool before sanding so you don't get the black goop everywhere then reheat in oven and re attach lense and hold firm together till cooled. I used a heat gun instead of the oven.

Yeah, check out his thread. He did a great job on those old lights.

Also, clean 'em with soap, not windex. The ammonia is not good for the plastic.

Yeah. It rainbows them and foggs them just like it does motorcycle windshields..... similar plastic.

I use dawn dish soap diluted in a spray bottle and just wipe it with a towel.

Now an update on my lights.

I found a set on ebay for 390 including bulbs. I've ordered them, had them shipped to a parcel service close to the border. As I came along I picked them up and had them with me all week long till yesterday. I had enough daylight left to install them. I couldn't find any difference to the originals. Easy to change, just 5 nuts and the plugs at the bulbs. Now since everything is done, I can say, I got them for exactly for half of the price compared to oems.
Now I'm eager to see the result. It's still dark and I'm leaving in 15 minutes.
There was a business card attached to one of the boxes. It's only an email a dress there. But just give it a try and they might respond. It's trucklights4less@gmail. com 20150919_190546.jpg
