HDS is a driver leasing company, related to DSW and Choice Drivers. See the other post below. I worked for them for a couple of years in 2004-2005 and 2007-2008. They have several companies in the area. The Kalil deal was pretty decent then. It was hourly pay plus mileage. That was nice. Most was easy lift-gate work, some drop-and-hook shuttles and yard jockey, too. Out for only two days at a time, often back the same day. Kalil mostly used their own drivers for the side bay (beverage trailer) deliveries. We used trucks from Ideal Lease. If you drive by their plant, you'll probably see one of HDS's drivers on the side of the road in one of those white IL trucks and can ask them about how it's been lately. Just keep in mind that truckers love to complain.

 

I just graduated from HDS in Tucson, they are the schooling side of the DSW, DSW is mainly run by swift. They will offer you a job right out of school at $.23c/p/m and pay you $375 for the 6 weeks you are with a trainer before they let you go solo, then they will offer you a raise of $.05 c/p/m with at least 2500 miles a week, that means they are making about $250.00 extra each week even after I paid for the school (160 hrs.) Why can't they pay $.33 c/p/m like all the bigger companies are offering. I hate the thought of ####### myself out to them but nobody will give me a shot without "experience". what a crock!
