I'm just wondering on peoples input with mainly tanker hazmat vs lowboy freight and what people think is better, like freight availability, what's the pay like, and if its even worth the hassle to do that type of freight and just stick with flatbed.

For freight availability - flatbed, tank / hazmat pay a bit better but also have more expenses, when it comes to lowboy oh boy...that's some deep waters.
5 axles set up, 6, 7 and 8 that are the most common and the money varies, the more axles the more per mile but the expenses go up with them as well. Adding a jeep, booster o stinger is another topic for another day. I own a 2 axle commercial style rgn and is currently park, flatbed is currently doing better since is all legal freight and less deadhead usually. -
Probably just comes down to what you like. Both are unique corners of trucking.

I'm a tanker yanker, an old guy, and possibly a little lazy. So chemical tanker fits just fine. Hard to compare the two as they are so different. Running open deck whether flatbed, RGN or whatever is a lot more physical.

That is like asking what is better, ribeye steak or chocolate cake ? They are 2 completely different sides of trucking. And all of the answers to the questions depend on what it is you want to do. Forget about the money for a second and focus on what would make u happy. The money will never be worth it in this industry if u are completely miserable. There is b.s to put up with on all sides. Pick the one that you want so when u get b.s thrown your way it is tolerable to deal with and move on.

I doubt there would be as much freight in the low boy side as tanker.
