Hi there!
We are hauling fresh chicken for the first time so we didn't know what to expect. I just got a call for the driver saying that there is a bit of water (pink in color) leaking from the trailer. Is that normal when hauling chicken? Reefer set to 25 F continuous per the Shippers instructions. Would appreciate any advice!

Thanks so much tnevin225! Im sorry for the idiotic question but what is tots?Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

They are large carboard containers set on top of pallets and lined with a big plastic bag.
The fresh chickens I hauled one time were iced in those containers, and there was quite a bit of drainage. Ice melting brings down the temperature quickly.Farmerbob1 and wore out Thank this. -
Got it! Yes that's exactly what it looks like! As long as its normal, phew! The reefer temp is set at 25 continuous but fluctuates to 27 sometimes. Also ok? Thank you so much!Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

Ours are set at 25 for boxed meat, and mixed loads, zero for deep frozen.
Temps fluctuate in a range, usually 4 degrees above set point is the max and down to the set point on cycle sentry, continuous fluctuates less on the upside, but will go below more often.
Your setting is fine and what you describe is normal.D.Tibbitt, Farmerbob1, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this. -

And make sure to get the trailer washed out as soon as possible after getting unloaded, or you will have the funky smell.
