Legally, well maybe not but building a case of witness' with customers might have helped when the law was called. I've heard another story about this here some years ago and they won when the owner called on them and the cops sided with the driver and they ended up getting paid so yea, you #### skippy I would have held the truck for ransom and I would have given him a deadline or that truck was gonna be sold piece by piece on Ebay until what was owed was collected then he could kindly come get the rest of it from off the side of the road.

I would seek his DOT and MC number and report him to the authorities and he will have to explain why he doesn't have documented proof of paying you and there's no way he can get around no matter how slick he my think he is because they will catch him after an audit of all his bank records and such. Then I'm sure once he does get caught and they make him pay he'll get barred from running a business.

 

not sure about the rest but this in red is what you should do plus the small claims court. turn him into fed dot and irs. tax evasion and falsifying dot records.

 

With all the advice, here is something that you can actually do.

Take the losses and apply it to your taxes going forward - of course documenting any attempt to collect the money.

Then learn how to find an owner to drive for.

If they don't have a contract, walk. If they do, get a copy of it and take it to a lawyer to have them tell you whats in it.

Get the numbers and names of other people who drove for him - if possible drove that truck - and ask questions.

I'd be crowing his info all over the world wide internets. He ain't got money to pay you, he ain't got money to file any lawsuits.
If you're too timid to file a claim in general sessions court or with your state's labor board then you're probably too timid to harass the enemy's homebase with some midnight missions. This is the kind of stuff I get obsessed with. He'd be sorry he messed with me.

Get some dark tactical clothing and some blackface and have some fun! It's dark at least half the day this time of year. Turn off your cell phone so you can't be tracked. Pay cash for any supplies you may decide to use and make the purchases at stores outside of your area.

 

Can't legally hold truck for randsom anyways. He got truck back w in 2 hrs of the conversation.

Not true. You can ALWAYS slap on a liens for nonpayment. Contact an attorney first, but its doable
