I heard about Hot Shot's Secret on America's Truckin' Network last night...sounds pretty cool but wanted to see if anyone out here had tried it?? Thanks

Fill us in on what their secret is.
Thanks -
I did a search and all I could find was, it is a oil addivites
What is the purpose of HSS?Hot Shots Secret was developed for a major engine manufacturer. Today's diesel engines are much more efficient than those just 10 years old. To increase the efficiency of the burn, diesel engine manufacturers have increased the pressure at the tip of the injector. Older engines are in the 1200 - 1500 psi range where new diesel engines are as high as 35,000 psi. This increase in pressure atomizes the diesel fuel and provides for a better, more efficient burn (more power, less particulates).
Unfortunately there are some problems that come with this improvement. Higher pressures and higher temperatures have a burning effect on the engine oil. The engine oil is used as hydraulic oil to push the injector plunger which in turn pushes out the diesel fuel and atomizes it. Over time a thin layer of oxidized oil and additives slow down the injector. At first this shows up as sluggish acceleration. As time goes on it actually stops the injector from working. This is the point that the injector usually gets replaced.
it is made by lubrication specialties. A injector that you put in your oil?18wheelsarollin and pichu Thank this. -
I have since talked to a driver who mentioned using it in his truck and had good results. Apparently the high pressure systems use engine oil to lube them...and after a while they get messed up. Apparently this stuff cleans it up.
The Ford Power Stroke 6.0 seems to be a good one for this problem.
I was just curious if anyone had tried it in their rig??
Apparently if they have the same type of injector system it can help.
Thanks for the info! -
There are a few engine families that are HEUI (hydrualic electronic unit injectors) in class 8 trucks that might benefit from this (ususally the smaller displacement motors). But the majority of the engines in the class 8 truck market are MEUI (mechanical electronic unit injector) and really won't see any gain from this product in my opinion. The diesel engine oil that is on the market now is pretty dang good, but it wasn't designed specifically for the HEUI or HPOP (high pressure oil pump) injection systems and this product may be the solution for now.
Harper78121, pichu and 18wheelsarollin Thank this. -
Sounds like more snake oil gimmick stuff to me. If it was all that, and a bag of chips Cat and International would already be recommending it for their HEUI injectors. I think the biggest oil problem these injectors had was oil frothing, and that was fixed 20 some years ago.
But, who knows. If I run across a bottle of it in a store Ill buy, and try it in my 7.3 powerstroke. -
probably not as there was a big lawsuit between Ford and International on the 6.0...if there was an aftermarket fix that was cheaper than injector replacement neither one would admit to it.
They do have something called Fire Power 404 on the Hot Shot Secret site that is geared to the 7.3 -
the hotshot secret is an oil additive
the firepower 404 is a fuel additive18wheelsarollin Thanks this. -

We have used EnviroSave for years. Hubby treats all our vehicles with it-the diesel Silverado, our diesel Jetta, our old Neon, and my PT Cruiser (Lordy, wish that was a diesel), and of course, our 2004 Kenworth that we have had since new. Hubby's mechanic says our Kenworth engine is in "sweet shape". He used to use EnviroSave in all the vehicles, machines, etc. up at the logging camps on BC coast, before our forest industry died. Have a friend who is a marine mechanic, he uses it on the boats.
18wheelsarollin Thanks this.
