In an effort to defend my driver I am asking if anyone has had problems getting loaded at this location.
Details of delays, staff attitude, super strict rules and regs. would be appreciated.

I loaded once out of there last year. I didn't have any problems as far as attitude or anything.
Ian T Thanks this. -
if it's the same place i'm thinking of. i HATED that place. attitudes. slow unloads. constant yelling on the cb becuase trucks don't do as they are told.
last time i was there. they had an explosion. 200 feet from me.
can't remember the place. but it was defenitely midlothian. and gerdau sounds familiar. hauled 4 loads of cars from albuquerque. i'd be campig out to be first inline. and i was lucky to get reloaded at the end of the day. usually in dallas.
never took a load out though.Ian T Thanks this. -
I used to go there on a daily basis with maverick and they are horrible they take hours to get you loaded then you gotta wait just to just some stupid tarping machine which Is a deck that extends and retracts and slows down your tarping process. Their very strict about long pant n long sleeve shirt and you not allowed on to of your load unless your at the tarping machine .

Thanks guys, keep it coming. My driver is looking good, as I knew he would

Loading almost any time at Gerdau in Midloathian, Tx is a lesson in patience.
Time to load from check-in to having paper work in hand can be as short as an hour, On average it is 2 to 3. Then you get to secure and tarp.
The tarp stations are more dangerous than just getting up on the load and doing the job.
The problem here is getting to check-in. That can take hours. Several times I have had an appointment at say 1300, and not been checked in until 0100 or 0200.
Often they have major problems with the computer systems. When it goes down, everything stops. They don't seem to have enough loaders working to cover the trucks coming in.
Once I think I put 20 miles on the truck just going to all the different places in the yard to get the one piece of this and that for the load. -
I know there is always the attitude if I don't haul it someone else will and for a lot cheaper, but... It's places like these that truckers need to start having their brokers or companies start clamping down on and demanding detention after so many hours and then charge them for it. If your appointment is for 1300 and you're not being checked in till 0100-0200, there is something wrong with their system and truckers need to quit being the ones who pay the price for it. An occasional delay is one thing, but all the time is just plain mismanagement and theft of the drivers time.
screamin eagle, Ian T and backupandpush Thank this. -
I would love to see companies be on the other side of the fence just once so they can get a feel what its like waiting hrs to get lded/unlded.
NavigatorWife and Ian T Thank this. -
But they have a free shower!
Ian T Thanks this.
