I just picked up a 36" flat top sleeper from a Pete 359 and it needs the corners repaired. I was just wondering if anyone has ever installed factory or aftermarket repair panels. I know I need the huck rivets to do this job correctly. Thanks for any help.

i have done that exact job on a 359 36 inch sleeper. its pretty straight forward but you will have to remove the entire bed structure inside so you can get to all of the rivets. its mostly pop riveted together so its no terrible, but it definitely adds a few hours to the job. other than that its not all that bad of a job as long as you can get your hands on a huck gun. i dont know if anyone offers aftermarket panels though, ive always had to buy them from peterbilt. huck rivets also are best removed with a cutoff wheel on the back side rather than trying to grind the head off the outside, at least thats what i have found. and i have cut a million of the darned things.

Yeah finding the panels looks to be the hard part, Utica General says they are NLA for a 359. I have the whole interior apart aleady. I will need to find a huck gun as well. I only really need the two rear corner peices and I am wondering if they would be the same as a 379 36" sleeper. The dealer wants nothing to do with me or what I am trying to do. Blackpipes, what dealer did you go through on the panels you bought? If I cant get the, I may just try and make them with sheet aluminum. Also, Did you pull the fiberglass top right off the sleeper? Thanks

i usually deal with utica general but they dont have much interest in the old stuff. i used to buy 359 panels from lancaster pete but its been several years. i have also heard that concord nh pete is real good about getting them. my 99 has a 36 inch on it and it looks like you may be able to use those panels. i would do some investigating for urself to be sure. i would bet that an early 379 has the same panels. seems that as soon as you say 359 the dealers shut down sometimes.
