Recently i passed my AZ class driving test and i applied for the job in a trucking company in Ontario. The person who conducted my road test for the company failed me coz he said i used hand to hand steering technique ( he said only hand over hand is allowed in trucking ) .However I passed the ministry road test with hand to hand steering method with no point deducted in steering section. Just want to know do companies prefer hand over hand or that guy just made up the story.
Note- Im used to hand to hand steering and I make proper turns .
    Thanks

Failed??! Deduct some points maybe, but failed?
Whenever you are testing, do everything by the book. Don't question why or get obstinate about doing it your way. All you have to do is pass.
Both hands on the wheel, hand over hand to turn, ten and two for straight.
double clutch and turn your head in an obvious manner when checking mirrors.
When you walk out with your license, then you have all the time in the world to develop bad habits.

Hand over hand? Like crossing your arms while turning? That's a great way to lose control of your vehicle if something happens

I don't think you wanna work there LOL, sounds like they're pretty #### uptight!

So you didn't run over any curbs, and could backup, and they're worried about your steering technique? Wow, no steering wheel spinners at that place lol. They would ban me for life with my palm technique lol.

I have always turned the wheel with 1 hand. Im usually in neutral while turning unless its ice or rain or snow etc. Easier to find gear from neutral than to have to upshift or downshift while in turn. Just my opinion tho

Hand to hand? How TF does that work? That'd be a real jerky turn.

I have a buddy that does that, kinda different. When I was still shifting, I would either use 4th-5th in a 13/18 speed, but the best gear I liked, was using L in a 13 speed in high range.
