Looking for an idea of the best route to Greensboro, NC. Will be heading out from Hagerstown, Md. See a few different routes but wanted to see if anyone has a favorite way or just the way you feel would be the best. Also have a run to Ithaca, NY. coming up. Any ideas on that would be appreciated also. Thanks.

Just take 840/US220 N to Roanoke then head up 81....

Edit: oops. I thought it was to Hagerstown......

I’d run 81-64 east to 29 south. You’ll have a few stoplights, mostly south of Lynchburg. Have a pilot in Danville and loves not too far once in Nc

Is 29 dual lane all the way? Looks may be a little longer than the interstates. It may be dependent on the weather also.

It may be,I was never a big fan of 81. I used to run up that way except I would sneak up 6 and 151 which probably cuts off 10-15 miles.

29 isn't a bad way to go, all of the lights are north of 64 in Charlottesville. There are a few lights south of Lynchburg but nothin bad. 220S out of roanoke is all 4 lane...dual lanes and a median. You have about 7-8 lights all the way until it forms I840. 5 of those lights are in the Roanoke area.

It is and they enforce it now. There’s also a 13’6” bridge on 250.
