I worked for Greatwide for 7mos and the things I saw this company repeatedly do just flat out makes me wonder how Walmart is even keeping them...

They had a company driver back in march who was on a run to he corpus Christi area and missed his turn around Portland tx store and went to make a u-turn and went under 12'6" bridge.

The driver peeled back the roof of 2012 great Dane reefer trailer owned by Walmart as well as tearing a whole in the 2010 freightliner company truck...did the company fire him??

NO they did not...the reason for not doing so...the ops mgr stating that firing the driver would do the company no good because we need drivers!

In June..they had another driver go under a low bridge and peel back the roof of a Walmart dry van trailer and that driver is still driving as well for them..

In July..they had a company driver who went to the league city tx store & upon leaving that store for next drop attempted to drive over a concrete barrier and by doing so..bent the righ rear steel rim on the Penske rental Volvo truck as well as buckled the landing gear on walmart reefer trailer...he proceed to go to next store in Galveston and then back to dc in new caney tx, 85 mi on bent rim....

The driver made the claim he didn't even know it happened because he didn't feel anything!

This next incident really tops the cake....
how do you lose a $100k truck??

They had a 2010 freightliner century class that had Appearantly broke down between Houston & Beaumont & break down dept had the truck towed to freightliner in Beaumont where it sat for 2months & no even knew where the truck was even with paying the $700 repair bill....they laughed about it too!

The dispatching is a joke too...the load planners don't even know who's working when...they will call you on scheduled days off & not call you when your supposed to work...

I even had a load planner call me and ask " do you want another run?"...I told them I already have 2 loads...oh..ok they said...the can't even keep track of what they dispatch..

I see the majority of WM trls being pulled by England. Both dry & reefer. I've also heard from several O/Os that GW is a joke. You'll run a couple short hauls for a few days and then you'll sit for 5 days. And repeat. I've come to the conclusion that it's very rare to make good money at these behemoth carriers because they just have way too many drivers to keep happy with not enough intelligent ppl working behind the scenes.

Yeah but they just signed 5 years with Wal Mart here in TX.. The reason they kept GW here was because swift has done such a poor job in Florida...and yeah I am leased to GW right now but I am looking for pastures that look more fertile... Like you were saying the dispatch doesn't have a clue the Ops and OCM managers don't get it and don't care.. We got a message on the peoplenet yesterday that said " We know everyone has a family, and we know you have scheduled days off... But we are expecting a heavy weekend.... If you have a scheduled days off on Thurs Fri Saturday OR Sunday and or you have made plans change them as you will need to work one or both days we have you scheduled off"...

Remember Greatwide has dedicated fleets working for a lot of different customer. I work for the fleet hauling Charter Steel in WI and OH. The trucks are all company trucks. They treat us great. Good pay and good home time. The Op Ctr Mgr. was a driver years ago and understands what we need to be happy and successful. Steel hauling in vans is not easy with all of the securement so they train a lot and don't hire rookies. Just remember all Greatwide locations are not a like.

People are happy when a former driver is behind a desk ? ? ?

    Say it aint so !
( Just don't say it loud thou , wouldn't want upper management from a bunch of co.s
finding out . If they did they might hire more of em to fill those types of jobs and that could
lead to lower turn-over rates and better productivity , nope , can't have that , best to leave
    a broken system ... broke )

Strange, I know several guys leased with Greatwide, and they're all doing real good. Maybe it depends on the terminal if one is happy or not.
